United States House of Representatives Passed Medical Reform Bill

news  4/16/2010

On 21st March, U.S. House of Representatives passed the "budgetary coordination" proposal resulted from 220 votes to 211 votes and completed the second step in "two-step” of the medical reform legislation. Therefore, the final version of the medical reform bill has been passed in the House of Representatives.

The results showed that all Republican members, without exception, voted against the "budgetary coordination” proposal. In all 253 Democratic members, 33 voted against.

According to the plan, the medical reform legislation is divided into "two-step" by House: firstly voting on medical reform proposed by Senate and then voting on "budgetary coordination” proposal, namely the amendment to proposal raised by Senate. Earlier, U.S. House of Representatives passed the medical reform bill resulted from 219 votes to 212 votes proposed by the Senate.

The Senate intends to vote on "budgetary coordination" proposal next week. If passed, the medical reform bill and "budget coordination" proposal raised by the Senate will be submitted to the President for signature and became a law. If the "budget coordination" proposal failed to pass by the Senate, then the medical reform bill proposed by Senate will be signed by the president into a law. This will be a heavy strike to the House Democrats and the United States Congress politics, mistrust arisen accordingly between the House and Senate will make the Congress incur greater resistance when promoting new legislation in future.
